Athlo LLC (“Athlo,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes what we collect when you use the Athlo app and website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

We do not sell your personal information. We do share limited device and ad-interaction data with Google for advertising, which some laws treat as “sharing” — Section 6 explains what that means and how to opt out.

01Information We Collect

Account and profile information

When you create an account or update your profile, we collect your name, email address, date of birth, username, profile photo, sports preferences and skill level, and — if you provide it — emergency contact details.

Social login

If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the public profile information those services provide based on the permissions you grant, typically your name, email address, and profile picture.

Usage information

We collect how you interact with the app: match participation, chat messages, search filters, news preferences, watchlist activity, RSVPs, bookings, and team membership.

Device and log data

We collect technical data including device model, operating system version, IP address, app version, push notification token, device identifier, advertising identifier, crash reports, and performance logs.

Location data

With your permission, we collect approximate or precise location to suggest nearby games, events, and facilities. You can revoke this at any time in your device settings.

Payment information

When you pay for a game, session, ticket, or registration, our payment processor collects your card details directly. Athlo never receives or stores your full card number. We retain a transaction record: amount, date, what it was for, and the status of the payment.

Content you upload

Photos, videos submitted for analysis, documents, signed forms, roster files, and messages you send.

02How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

03How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in the following circumstances:

Service providers are permitted to use your information only to perform services for us, and are bound by confidentiality obligations.

04AI Features

Athlo uses artificial intelligence for sports insights, recommendations, summaries, and video analysis, including through SportBud. When you use these features, the content of your request — and any video or image you submit — is sent to a third-party AI model provider to generate a response.

Please do not submit sensitive personal information, medical details, or another person's information to AI features. AI output is informational only; see Section 11 of our Terms of Use.

05Payments

Marketplace payments — game entries, coaching sessions, tickets, and registrations — are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and processes your payment information directly under its own privacy policy. Athlo receives a transaction record but not your card number.

If you accept payments as a host, coach, or organizer, Stripe will collect additional identity and bank information from you to comply with financial regulations. That collection is between you and Stripe.

Paid subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google. We use RevenueCat to verify and manage subscription status: when you open a paid tier, your Athlo user ID and the purchase receipt from Apple or Google are sent to RevenueCat, which tells us whether your subscription is active. We receive confirmation of your subscription status, not your payment details.

06Advertising

Athlo shows ads in the free tier, delivered through Google AdMob. Ads appear periodically in the news feed and in LinkUp listings, and are labeled as ads.

Athlo Plus and Athlo Pro remove ads entirely.

To serve ads, Google AdMob collects your device advertising identifier (the IDFA on iOS or the Advertising ID on Android), IP address, general device information, and how you interact with ads. Google may use this to show you ads based on your interests, both inside Athlo and in other apps and sites. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and described at how Google uses information from partner sites and apps.

Your ad choices

Users under 18

Because we collect date of birth, we know which accounts belong to minors. We do not serve personalized ads to users under 18. Those accounts receive non-personalized ads only, which are based on general context rather than a profile of the user.

We do not use health or medical form information, chat content, or precise location for advertising.

07Health and Medical Forms

Teams and programs may use Athlo to collect medical forms, waivers, and health-related information. This is sensitive information and we treat it accordingly: it is stored encrypted, access is restricted to the team or program administrators you submit it to, and we do not use it for personalization, analytics, advertising, or AI training.

Athlo is not a healthcare provider and does not review or act on this information. The team or program that requested it controls how it is used. Contact them directly with questions about their handling of it, or us to have your copy deleted.

08Teams, Rosters, and Minors

Coaches and organizers can create rosters that include people who do not have an Athlo account, including minors. When that happens, we hold the information the organizer entered — typically a name, and sometimes a guardian's contact details — so the person can be invited and included in schedules and availability requests.

We rely on the organizer to have obtained parental consent before entering a minor's information. Parents and guardians can contact us at any time to review, correct, or delete information about their child, whether or not the child has an account.

Guardians who respond to availability requests, sign forms, or make payments on behalf of a child generate records linked to both accounts.

09Location Data

Location is used to find nearby games, events, and facilities, and to show distance. We request permission before accessing it, and you can revoke that permission at any time in your device settings — discovery features will then be limited to locations you enter manually.

We do not use your location for advertising and do not sell location data.

10Notifications and Device Data

If you enable notifications, we store a push token tied to your device so we can send match updates, availability requests, chat messages, and reminders. Disable notifications in your device settings at any time.

If you use home screen widgets or Live Activities, limited match and schedule data is delivered to your device to keep them current.

11Calendar Sync

If you connect an external team calendar, we read event data from that source to display schedules and keep them synchronized. We read only the calendar you connect, and you can disconnect it at any time in the app.

12What Other Users Can See

Some information is visible to other users by design:

Athlo cannot control what other users do with information you share with them. Be thoughtful about what you post.

13Data Security

We use industry-standard measures including secure password hashing, token-based authentication, encrypted communication in transit, encryption at rest for sensitive documents, and role-based access controls. Access to production data is restricted and logged.

No system is completely secure. Keep your credentials confidential and enable available account protections. If we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you within the timeframes required by applicable law.

14Data Retention

We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy, or as required by law.

15Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a portable copy, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To exercise any of these, email athlo@athloapp.com. We will verify your identity before acting and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

California residents: we do not sell personal information. We do share device identifiers and ad-interaction data with Google for cross-context behavioral advertising, as described in Section 6, and you have the right to opt out using the controls listed there or by emailing us. We do not sell or share the personal information of users we know to be under 16. EU and UK residents: we process your information to perform our contract with you, to pursue legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, to comply with legal obligations, or with your consent — and you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

You can also control location, notifications, camera, and photo access directly in your device settings.

16Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account at any time from in-app settings, or by emailing athlo@athloapp.com. Account access is disabled immediately, personal data is deleted within 30 days except where retention is legally required or needed to complete a pending transaction, and backups clear within 90 days. Deleted accounts cannot be recovered.

17Children's Privacy

Athlo accounts are not available to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.

Children under 13 may appear on a team roster entered by a coach or organizer, without an account of their own. In that case, we rely on the organizer to have obtained verifiable parental consent, and we limit what we hold to what is needed for scheduling and participation.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe we hold information about your child that you did not consent to, contact athlo@athloapp.com and we will review and delete it.

18International Users

Athlo is operated from the United States and your information is stored and processed there. If you use Athlo from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

19Third-Party Links

The app and website contain links to third-party sites and services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before providing information.

20Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. We will update the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will notify you by in-app notification or email.
